Everyone’s beauty needs are different and will require a customized treatment plan which Dr. Yin will discuss with you. At the time of your virtual consultation with Dr. Yin, pricing will be discussed based on your customized treatment plan that suit your needs.
There are a few primary differences between Botox and Dermal Filler. But both can be highly effective at reducing wrinkles and signs of aging along with re-shaping certain parts of your body in a minimally invasive fashion.
There are a few primary differences between Botox and Dermal Filler. But both can be highly effective at reducing wrinkles and signs of aging along with re-shaping certain parts of your body in a minimally invasive fashion.
Botox (botulinum toxin)
Botox is a naturally occurring protein produced by a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum. It works by binding to your muscle cell receptors to prevent muscular contraction. As a result, the decreased muscular contraction will reduce the dynamic (moving) wrinkles and ease the appearance of static (resting) wrinkles.
Botulinum toxin also works well to prevent new wrinkles from forming, and ease the look of existing fine lines. Depending on the depth of some of your lines and wrinkles, the deeper ones may require treatment with botulinum toxin and dermal filler to maximise their effectiveness.
Dermal Filler (hyaluronic acid)
Dermal Filler is a gel like substance that is made of Hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance found within our bodies (i.e. joints, skin, eyes). It is often designed to mimic soft tissue or bone depending on the density of filler used.
The gel is then injected into different areas on one’s face and body to add projection, definition, volume, thus beautifying one’s features.
Fillers are also a good choice for smoothing out deeply set wrinkles. The best part about hyaluronic acid filler is that because it is a natural substance, it is organically broken down and absorbed by our own body with zero impact on your health.
Botox
Everyone’s beauty needs are different and therefore will require a customized treatment plan. The volume of Botox of Dermal Filler will be dependant on that plan. As a result, pricing will be discussed at your virtual consultation with Dr. Yin where she will work together with you to create a treatment plan that suit your needs
According to research studies, botulinum toxin A lasts 3-4 months. Based on clinical experience, Dysport lasts the longest out of all of the botulinum toxin brands. For some individuals, its effects can last up to 6 months post-injection. That means you’ll have less visits with us, and more time looking fabulous!
Dermal Filler
Dermal fillers generally last between 6 months to 1 year depending on the type of filler used and the area injected. Filler injected in areas of the face that experience more movement such as the lips tend to last 6 months, whereas filler injected in areas that move less (i.e. cheeks, chin, and under-eyes), can last up to 1 year.
The great thing about Botox and fillers is that they both have minimal recovery time.
Botox
With Botox injections, you may see small red marks at the injection points for a few hours post-injection, this typically resolves the day of your injection. While not common, there is a small risk of bruising around the injection area, so don’t be alarmed if that happens.
If you do bruise, it’s best to apply an ice pack gently over the area, use the herbal product Arnica, and drink some pineapple juice to help breakdown the by-products of hemoglobin. The bruise will resolve itself over the course of a few days.
The visible results of the Botox injection will start showing after a few days and the best results are seen 2 weeks after the injections. When it comes to looking amazing, patience is a virtue!
Dermal Filler
When it comes to Dermal Fillers, you may see redness and swelling over the areas injected immediately after the procedure. The redness is expected to last a few hours.
Expect some minor swelling that may get worse before it gradually gets better. You can generally expect the swelling to be worse 1-2 days after injection (i.e. lip injections) and gradually improve over the next 1-2 weeks.
Drink Lots of Water – It is very important to hydrate well and drink lots of water in the first 2 weeks after receiving filler injections. Hyaluronic acid attracts water and hydrating well will help the filler to integrate well into your existing tissues.
Like with Botox, you can expect to see the best results about 2 weeks after your injection.
Not at the moment, but we are planning on offering financing plans at a future date.
The potential side effects of both Botox and Dermal Fillers are generally considered to be minor.
Botox Risks and Side Effects
Small risk of bruising and migration of Botox to other unintended areas.
Dermal Filler Risks and Side Effects
Small risk of bruising and risk of vascular occlusion.
Dr. Yin is very meticulous and careful throughout all patient procedures. She has extensive knowledge of facial anatomy to avoid any such complications. Part of her approach is landmarking facial blood vessels and aspirating prior to each injection to ensure that she is injecting away from blood vessels. This is done to minimize the risk of vascular occlusion and to ensure optimal safety for all of our patients.
Dr. Yin’s approach to facial injectables is one that ALWAYS prioritizes SAFETY FIRST. Her approach is to use a very slow and careful methodology towards injection to offer you the safest and best results. Dr. Yin is always easily accessible to all of her clients for close follow-up post injections.
